Zoltan Huszarik Collection Limited Edition Blu-Ray
This limited edition three-disc Blu-ray box set contains his two masterpieces Szindad (1971) and Csontvary (1979), a selection of his acclaimed short films, and a range of new and archived special features – plus individual booklets with texts about the films. Disc 1: Szindbad (1971):
Szindbad is considered a major "lost masterpiece" of international cinema and was voted by Hungarian writers and filmmakers as one of the three best Hungarian films of all time. This erotic elegy, based on stories by surrealist author Gyula Krúdy, is a lush and sensual portrayal of the life, love, and memories of hedonist and serial womanizer Szindbad (Zoltan Latinovits).
Disc 2: Csontvary (1979)
Huszarik's second – and last – feature film is a complex and captivating portrayal of the artist Tivadar Csontvary Kosztka. Csontvary, considered Hungary's greatest painter, was driven mad by his passionate desire to express the beauty and perfection of what he saw as God's creation on canvas. The film is both lyrical and surrealistic, and is a vivid expression of the artist's creative drive – and his tendency to destroy.
Disc 3: Short Films (1963–1976)
A selection of Zoltan Huszarik's famous short films, including his best-known film poem, Elegy (Elégia, 1965), a tribute to the horse and its service to humanity. The disc also includes Groteszk (1963), Capriccio (1969), Homage to Old Women (1972), and A Piacere (1976).
