Region Code Guide
Will it play on my player?
Buying imported movies allows you to access limited editions and uncensored versions that might not exist in your country. However, studios use "Region Codes" to lock discs to specific parts of the world.
Here is a guide to help you understand if a disc will work with your setup.
4K Ultra HD Blu-ray (The Good News)
99% of all 4K UHD discs are Region Free.
If you are buying a 4K Ultra HD release, it will play on any 4K player worldwide, regardless of where you bought it or where you live.
(Note: Standard Blu-ray discs included inside a 4K box set might still be region locked. See below).
Blu-ray Regions
Blu-ray discs are divided into three geographical zones.
Region A: North America, South America, U.S. Territories, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and other areas of Southeast Asia.
Region B (NoirDisc Standard): Europe, Africa, Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand.
Region C: Asia (except for Japan, Korea, etc.), Russia, and Mainland China.
Region Free (ABC): The disc is uncoded and plays on all players worldwide.
Important for our customers:
Since NoirDisc is based in Sweden, most of our stock is Region B (compatible with players in the UK, Europe, and Australia).
If we sell a US Import (Region A), we will clearly state this in the product title or description.
DVD Regions
DVDs are older technology and have more strict locking.
Region 1: USA, Canada.
Region 2: (NoirDisc Standard): Europe, Japan, Middle East, South Africa.
Region 0: (or All): Plays on any DVD player.
How to check before buying
Read the Product Description: We always list the region code (e.g., "Region B" or "Region Free") in the specifications.
Check your Player:
If you live in Europe/UK/Australia: You have a Region B player. You can play Region B and Region Free discs.
If you live in the USA/Canada: You have a Region A player. You need a "Region Free Player" to play our Region B imports.
