Yosujiro Ozu - Record Of A Tenement Gentleman / Dragnet Girl / A Hen In The Wind Blu-Ray
THREE FILMS BY YOSUJIR? OZU (2 x BLU-RAY) br> Director: Yasujir? Ozu
This year marks the 120th anniversary of the birth of Japanese filmmaker Yasujir? Ozu. From his early silent films to his last feature films in the 1960s, Ozu perfected a style that eliminated unnecessary plot devices and camera movements. In this way, he created films whose superficial simplicity conceals character studies with depth, warmth, and sometimes humor.
This new set contains three newly restored films, all presented on Blu-ray in the UK for the first time:
The Dragnet Girl (1933, 99 min)
Sweet Tokiko is an ordinary typist, but when evening comes, she becomes a fun gangster's moll. When her boyfriend disappears, Tokiko is forced to reevaluate her life. Ozu's Dragnet Girl was hugely popular when it was released and remains one of his most enduring silent films.
