After a well-respected museum director is stabbed to death, his psychologist, Dr. Sam Rice, becomes unintentionally involved in the case. First, the police come to him looking for answers, then the murder victim's mistress Brooke comes looking for much more than that. Sam inevitably falls for the mysterious woman's beauty and cool charm, but at the same time he begins to suspect that she knows more than she lets on. The more he becomes entangled in the case and in Brooke's life, the more he begins to fear that he will be the killer's next victim.
