The year is 1944. Most men are soldiers somewhere in Sweden. At the Örnen textile factory in Ryd, the women go about their work while listening to Ulla Billquist and dreaming of peace, real coffee, and more men. Then suddenly one day, he is standing there at the factory, the engineer and time study man Cederquist. A rooster in his prime, with a whole henhouse to crow over....
Lasse Hallström's TUPPEN, starring Magnus Härenstam in the title role, attracted a total of 912,000 cinema-goers in 1981 and became one of the biggest Swedish film successes ever. This film, with its wonderfully colorful period setting from the war years, was based on Ivar Lo-Johansson's short story "Kvinnofabriken" (The Women Factory).
