It's winter in Moominvalley, but Moomintroll doesn't want to hibernate; he wants to explore winter. Soon he discovers that strange creatures are walking around in the midwinter darkness and seem to be waiting for a strange and long-awaited guest. The guest is called Christmas, and the eager Moomins learn all about the wonderful Christmas season.

The Moomins, created by Finnish author Tove Jansson, are loved by children and adults around the world. Moominland Midwinter is an animated film created entirely in the classic spirit. Based on Tove Jansson's books, the film has been created using old-fashioned film clips from the stop-motion productions that became famous in the 1980s by Jupiter Film and Film Polski.
