Cartoonist David Parson stops the young Romanian woman Aura Petrescu from killing herself by jumping off a bridge. During the conversation that follows, it emerges that both share a troubled past with drug abuse and other problems. A bond forms between the two, and soon David finds himself drawn into a terrifying story involving a serial killer obsessed with decapitating his victims, séances, and repressed memories. A visually powerful and atmospheric thriller from the master Dario Argento.

The director's second film for the American market is carried by his flair for powerful visual storytelling, a screenplay by horror writer T.E.D. Klein (The Ceremonies, Providence After Dark and Other Writings), music by Pino Donaggio (Don't Look Now, Carrie,Two Evil Eyes) and memorable performances by Asia Argento (only 16 years old at the time of filming), Christopher Rydell, Piper Laurie (Twin Peaks) and Brad Dourif (Wise Blood,Exorcist III, Child’s Play).
