Alain Delon (Le Cercle Rouge) plays the lead role as the efficient and ruthless mafia hitman Tony Arzenta. Tony has a young family and wants to leave his criminal life behind to ensure that his young son is not drawn into the vendettas that so often accompany people in his position. But his bosses don't make it easy for him, and Tony ends up on a bloody mission that takes him across Europe to eliminate his former employers. Delon delivers a haunting performance that is as stoic as the iconic hitman role he played for Jean-Pierre Melville in Le Samourai, but within the poliziottesco framework of Italian crime films, Tony Arzenta delivers exciting scenes and an emotional core that carries the story to its nail-biting conclusion. This underrated crime classic from genre master Duccio Tessari (A Gun for Ringo, Death Came Yesterday) has an incredible cast featuring regulars from poliziotteschi, including Richard Conte (The Boss), Umberto Orsini (Violent City), Corrado Gaipa (Illustra lik) and many others. Now it has been newly restored and is finally being released in the UK for the first time.
