A new production at the London Opera House by Lord Ambrose (Gough) is canceled after a series of horrific murders. Ambrose attempts to revive the performance with the singer Christine (Sears), who finds herself drawn deep underground by the masked Phantom (Lom), who is determined to take revenge on the man who wronged him.

The Phantom of the Opera is a magnificent retelling of Leroux's gothic classic from Hammer's greatest director, Terence Fisher (The Revenge of Frankenstein)."
