The Man in Black was a huge radio hit during the war years and long after, fascinating millions of listeners with its macabre tales, which made Valentine Dyall a household name for his starring role as the deadly serious narrator. The Man in Black, which early on showcased the macabre side of Hammer's production and was an important part of their series of successful radio adaptations for cinema, has been carefully restored by Hammer in 4K from the original film negatives.

 

 

Joan Clavering inherited most of her father's fortune when he died during an unusual psychological experiment, but her sensitive nature soon makes her easy prey for her vengeful stepmother.
