The Incident Blu-Ray + DVD
After robbing an old man of a few dollars, hooligans Artie (Sheen) and Joe (Musante) jump on a subway deep in the Bronx and continue to threaten and intimidate Sunday evening commuters all the way to Times Square. The terrified passengers are a mixed group: an elderly Jewish couple, a family trying to protect their 5-year-old daughter, an alcoholic, two teenagers on a date, two enlisted soldiers, a bigoted African American man and his wife, etc. But they are united by their fear and sense of helplessness when Joe and Artie, armed with a knife, block the subway doors from opening at the stops and prevent passengers from leaving the train. Will any of them have the courage to confront the two madmen?
The Incident is a high-speed film in the style of "home invasion" on rails, a thriller set in the New York subway that preceded the more famous The Taking of Pelham One Two Three by seven years. When director Larry Peerce (Goodbye, Columbus) and cinematographer Gerald Hirschfeld (Young Frankenstein) were denied permission to film in the New York subway, they did it anyway with the help of hidden cameras for certain scenes, resulting in a vivid snapshot of the Big Apple in the 1960s as it began to rot.
