The Horrible Dr Hichcock Blu-Ray
One day, Dr. Hitchcock's (Robert Flemyng, The Quiller Memorandum) necrophilic tendencies go too far and his wife dies of an overdose. Despondent, the doctor leaves his house but returns several years later with a new wife, Cynthia (Barbara Steele, Black Sunday). The house they return to is eerie, and Cynthia hears strange things, while failing to realize that Dr. Hichcock intends to use her body to revive his dead wife's corpse. Director Riccardo Freda (The Iguana with the Tongue of Fire) and screenwriter Ernesto Gastaldi (The Whip and the Body) created a dark and sinister Gothic horror film that contains subtle allusions to Alfred Hitchcock's work, with Victorian London providing a lush backdrop. The film was released during the Italian horror boom that followed in the wake of Hammer's epoch-making horror productions.
