Kinji Fukasaku (Battle Royale) brings together an ensemble of two icons of Japanese cinema - Toshiro Mifune (Seven Samurai) and Sonny Chiba (The Street Fighter) - for this samurai epic, a retelling of the classic story of the 47 ronin.

When an injustice costs his master his life and property, the loyal servant Ishi (Kinnosuke Yorozuya, Bushido) seeks revenge. Since the target of his revenge is protected by the ruling shogunate, any retaliation would be considered an act of treason. Ishii gathers the remaining members of the now masterless samurai, and 47 of them swear a blood oath to avenge their murdered lord. Tensions rise among the ronin, who are eager to begin their mission, while ?ishi bides his time and waits for the right moment to strike. Enemy spies and assassins track ?ishi, who seems to have fallen from grace; has he lost his sense of honor, or is it just part of his plan?
