The Boss Limited Edition Blu-Ray
In the 1970s, crime films flourished in Italy as the country underwent several years of political and social unrest, known as the "Years of Lead." Italian film producers took advantage of these times by producing low-budget, violent films about the country's organized crime and corruption, establishing the poliziotteschi genre. One of the most famous poliziottesco directors was Fernando Di Leo, a director who was as keen to tell entertaining stories as he was to create socially relevant backdrops. In Di Leo's The Boss, Henry Silva plays mafia boss Nick Lanzetta, who murders key members of a rival gang to enable his boss to seize power. However, one surviving member of the gang, Cocchi (Pier Paolo Capponi, The Cat o' Nine Tails), plans his revenge and involves the corrupt police officer Torri (Gianni Garko, If You Meet Sartana Pray For Your Death), leading to a bloody series of double-crosses and power plays to find the one who will ultimately become the boss.
