During the barbaric heyday of film censorship in the early 1980s, Video Invest was the most daring and notorious video company. Their films were much worse than anyone else's, which led to police raids on Sweden's video stores. The 26 confiscated VHS titles were destroyed and the company went bankrupt. Now the films are back! In uncut original versions and digitally restored. As a child, Lacey witnesses her brother murdering their promiscuous mother's lover through a mirror. Twenty years later, she returns to the scene. Suddenly, the victim's spirit breaks free from the mirror—and he is not happy!

In the early 1980s, The Boogey Man became one of the biggest independent successes in the horror genre and would generate two sequels. The man behind the film was German director Ulli Lommel, whose unusual career began as an actor in a dozen of Rainer Werner Fassbinder's works, followed by an intimate collaboration with Andy Warhol and a career in the US as the director of a long series of B-horror films.The film was partly responsible for creating the biggest moral panic ever to shake Sweden when the debate program Studio S was broadcast on December 2, 1980. This led to several police raids on video stores and an aggressive debate on video violence that would rage for years to come.
