After spending two years in psychiatric care, young Sophie has been discharged. Rather than restoring her balance, her time in the institution has strengthened her conviction that she no longer wants to be there. Sophie decides to take her own life in the airplane toilet on the way home. However, a series of cruel twists of fate throws a spanner in the works. The plane crashes. Sophie is one of two people who survive the accident.
