Richard Donner's version Director Richard Donner began filming Superman II while he was filming Superman: The Movie, but the theatrical version of the film that was ultimately released was directed by Richard Lester. In 2006, Donner's original unique vision was released for the first time. Jor-El (Marlon Brando in scenes cut from the theatrical version) appears in important scenes that reinforce the Superman myth and deepen the relationship between father and son. Lois Lane devises more plans to expose Clark Kent as Superman. With so many big and small changes, including a different beginning and ending, this version is an eye-opening alternative experience.
