Erik works during the summer at a gas station in the archipelago. He is also an avid amateur photographer. He immediately falls in love and secretly follows her with his camera. However, Sonja already has a boyfriend, Thomas. On an island, Erik has an erotic adventure with a mature woman, Gudrun.

One night, after leaving Gudrun, Erik rescues Sonja from drowning. She tells him that her boyfriend, Thomas, has tried to rape her. Sonja and Erik fall in love. To his surprise, Erik discovers that Sonja is Gudrun's daughter. He abandons Sonja. A further complication is that Erik's sister Gittan is having an affair with a married man, Abbe. Unfortunately, Abbe turns out to be Gudrun's husband and therefore Sonja's father. When everyone eventually meets by chance, none of the lovers wants to acknowledge the others. Gudrun turns out to be pregnant. Erik immediately believes that he is the father of the child. However, this turns out to be wrong. Erik is relieved, and he reunites with Sonja.
