Saint-Narcisse (DVD)
A FILM ABOUT LOVING YOURSELF
Biker hunk Dominic is obsessed with his own beauty and documents it through portraits taken with a Polaroid camera. When he hears the news that his mother, who was believed to have been dead for a long time, is actually alive, Dominic jumps on his motorcycle to go find her. What follows is an odyssey through the forests outside Quebec, where family secrets are revealed and hot dreams come true. What could be better for a narcissist than to come face to face with a person who is one's twin in both body and soul?
Image maker and queer punk hero Bruce La Bruce (L.A. Zombie,The Misandrists) is back with a new film in which Greek mythology merges beautifully with 1970s Canada, religious iconography, pop culture, and B-movie kitsch. A beautiful film that moves chameleon-like between high and low. Sexy and intellectually stimulating. In the dual role of Dominic/Daniel, we see Félix-Antoin Duval (For Sarah), his loving mother Beatrice played by Tania Kontoyanni (Origami), and her butch lover Irene played by Alexandra Petrachuck (On The Basis of Sex).
