In a house in the suburbs, hairdresser Assar lives in peace with his beautiful and innocent daughter Anna-Bella. Suddenly, his wife reappears after having been missing for four years. She has been living in the big city and trying her hand at prostitution, and now decides to turn their bathhouse into a drive-in brothel—with Anna-Bella as the main attraction! The submissive Assar is relegated to the shameful role of waiter for the lecherous summer guests. But soon he begins to make plans for his wife to disappear again - for good!

Jan Halldoff's RÖTMÅNAD was a big eyebrow raiser in the 1970s. Swedes had never seen anything so twisted before. A quarter of a million people flocked to the cinema, curious to see comedian Carl-Gustaf Lindstedt in a dramatic role and to enjoy Christina Lindberg's beauty. The 19-year-old girl from Gothenburg was already Sweden's most famous pin-up girl and would soon become just as big at the box office, both at home and internationally.
