This superb film adaptation of Ira Levin's bestseller is perhaps the best horror film of all time. The story depicts a happy young couple from New York who are expecting their first child. Like most women who are about to become mothers for the first time, Rosemary (Mia Farrow) is confused and afraid. Her husband (John Cassavetes), an ambitious but rather unsuccessful actor, makes a pact with the devil to get his career off the ground. Director Roman Polanski elicits brilliant performances from the star-studded cast. Ruth Gordon won an Oscar® for her role as the overly concerned neighbor in this chilling classic.
