Jean Rollin continues his unique exploration of the vampire genre with Requiem pour un vampire (Requiem for a Vampire), featuring a cast of Rollin regulars including Marie-Pierre Castel (The Terror of the Vampires), Mirelle Dargent (Lips of Blood), and Louise Dhour (The Refugees). When Marie (Castel) and Michelle (Dargent), two beautiful women traveling through the countryside in clown costumes, stumble upon a mysterious castle, they discover a sadistic vampire sect whose leader offers them eternal life in exchange for continuing his bloodline. Rollins' pulp-inspired fourth feature film, also released as Virgins and Vampires and Caged Vampires, is replete with surreal and erotic imagery and accompanied by eccentric free rock music by composer Pierre Raph (The Iron Rose, The Demoniacs).
