Stanwyck plays Lee Leander, a shoplifter facing a lonely Christmas in jail, while MacMurray is the stern New York District Attorney who takes pity on her and arranges for her release on bail. When he offers to drive her to her family, it turns into a problematic car journey and an unlikely romance blossoms.Directed by Mitchell Leisen (Easy Living, Hold Back the Dawn) and featuring performances by Beulah Bondi (It's a Wonderful Life) and Elizabeth Patterson (Love Me Tonight), Remember the Night is a classic comedy from Hollywood's golden age.
