Passengers and crew celebrate New Year's Eve aboard the cruise ship Poseidon, a technological marvel and the height of luxury. But shortly after midnight, a giant wave hits the ship and sends it on a deep dive into the depths of the Atlantic. As the ship sinks deeper, a group of survivors must learn to work together if they are to survive this terrible ordeal.
