Peeping Tom - Digitalt restaurerad bluray
SPECIAL EDITION * DIGITALLY RESTORED IN 4K
NOMINATED AS ONE OF THE 10 BEST HORROR FILMS IN HISTORY
The Observer, 2010
Almost simultaneously in 1960, two films about a psychotic murderer premiered in theaters. Hitchcock's PSYCHO was hailed as a masterpiece and became a huge success, while PEEPING TOM, made by the highly regarded and popular compatriot Michael Powell, was savaged by the British press ("flush the shit down the toilet," wrote one critic). At the furious request of the public, the film was withdrawn from cinemas after only five days, which essentially destroyed Powell's hitherto brilliant career. In Sweden, the film was also badly treated. It was banned three times (!) and was not released until 13 years later.Today, the film—about a young man, scarred by his childhood, who murders women while filming their anguished final moments—has long since been reevaluated. This is largely thanks to devoted admirers such as Scorsese, Coppola, and De Palma, who were all inspired by the film.
In this edition, we get to experience the legendary film digitally restored in 4K, and the extensive bonus material reveals the whole story of how "the infamous piece of shit" is now considered a groundbreaking masterpiece.
