Partie De campagne Blu-Ray
Partie De Campagne (Blu-ray)
Director: Jean Renoir
Jean Renoir's Partie de campagne was released in 1946, 10 years after it was filmed, and was hailed as one of the great unfinished masterpieces. Since then, this masterful adaptation of Guy de Maupassant's short story has grown in stature to the point where it is now considered one of Renoir's most beloved films.During a picnic in the countryside, a young woman leaves her family and fiancé for a moment and embarks on a brief romance. With its bittersweet lyricism, tenderness, poetic sense of nature, tolerant satire of bourgeois conventions, and poignant sense of the transience of innocence and love, the film seems to distill the essence of everything that is most personal in Renoir's art. Partie de campagne was digitized and restored by Les Films du Panthéon in collaboration with Les Films du Jeudi and La Cinémathèque française, with support from the CNC and contributions from the Fonds Culturel Franco-Américain (DGA-MPA-SACEM-WGAW).
