Otroligt men sant (DVD)
HOW MUCH TIME WOULD YOU SPEND ON BECOMING YOUNGER?
A middle-aged couple has just moved into a house with an unusual feature. If you climb down a tunnel in the basement, you fall out of a hole in the ceiling on the upper floor of the house. During the short journey, twelve hours have passed and you become three days younger in the process. Shouldn't your own time machine include both underfloor heating and an open floor plan in terms of resale value? Alain, the man of the house, doesn't really know what to do with this strange addition to his living environment, which he is otherwise happy with. Marie, however, becomes slightly obsessed with the idea of regaining her lost youth, one tunnel ride at a time. In related news, Alain's alpha male boss proudly announces that he has replaced his penis with an electronic one that can be controlled via iPhone. All this to ensure his performance so that his wife doesn't get bored. How will it end for the two couples and their uneven battle against the ravages of time?
Time loops, mechanical male members, charming cats, and protagonists who take the most absurd situations in stride. In other words, everything is as it should be in the special corner of the film world created by the ever-productive and imaginative multi-artist Quentin Dupieux. In Unbelievable but True, we get what may be his most accessible and yet most twisted film to date. The theme of captivity and the fear of aging is certainly something many can relate to all too well. Everything indicates that this visit to Dupieuxland will also leave you doubled over with laughter and a little wiser. Or perhaps crazier?
