In the midst of Christmas Eve's peace and harmony, Detective Inspector Johan Falk finds himself in a violent firefight with robbers in central Gothenburg. Two people lose their lives while the gang's notorious leader, Leo Gaut, gets away. Leo is a cold-blooded and intelligent criminal who now tracks down the witnesses and threatens them into silence, but he also manages to make Falk appear to be the culprit in the shooting. Wanted and on the run, Falk is now being hunted by his own colleagues...
