At night, Boone is plagued by nightmares about Midian, an underground world populated by monsters. He hopes to find help from psychiatrist Dr. Decker, but instead finds himself caught in a diabolical trap. Falsely accused of a series of brutal murders that have recently plagued the city, he is subjected to a relentless police hunt and decides to cross the threshold to the other side, to Midian. But no matter how different, twisted, and bizarre the inhabitants here are, Boone soon realizes that the real monsters are not these creatures, but humans!

With HELLRAISER, Clive Barker revolutionized the horror genre and gave birth to one of the greatest cult films ever made. With a budget five times as large, NIGHTBREED arrived three years later, but was a misunderstood failure. Over time, however, it has been reevaluated and has become the subject of many articles and analyses. Boone is played by Craig Sheffer (Where the River Flows) and Dr. Decker is, unexpectedly, played by film director David Cronenberg, who surprised everyone with his chillingly sinister performance. Danny Elfman wrote the music.
