During the barbaric heyday of film censorship in the early 1980s, Video Invest was the most daring and notorious video company. Their films were much worse than anyone else's, which led to police raids on Sweden's video stores. The 26 confiscated VHS titles were destroyed and the company went bankrupt. Now the films are back! In uncut original versions and digitally restored. A madman armed with razor blades goes on a rampage in New York. While emitting an unpleasant quacking sound, he attacks woman after woman.

New York Ripper is the most notorious giallo film of all time and even today makes the most hardened horror fans cover their eyes. In Sweden, the film was the subject of more lawsuits and convictions than any other film, and in England it was banned for over twenty years. Censorship chief Carol Tpolski called the film "undoubtedly the most dangerous and harmful I have seen in my entire life."

The film's controversial director, Lucio Fulci, is considered one of the top names in Italian horror history and is responsible for most of the Video Invest films. In addition to New York Ripper, he also directed The Beyond, Zombie Flesh Eaters, City of the Living Dead, and House by the Cemetery.
