Both Kubrick and Spielberg have named it one of their favorite films. But despite the praise from two of the giants of film history, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will always be considered the most hated film ever made in our country. A fate it has had to live with since 1980, when the debate program Studio S made it the symbol of everything that "video violence" meant, resulting in posters and police raids across the country.

Now, the film that Empire called "the scariest in history" is turning 40, which is being celebrated with this newly restored version with amazing picture and sound quality. For the first time, it is based on the original negatives.
