Miami Blues Blu-Ray
George Armitage (Grosse Pointe Blank) has adapted acclaimed noir author Charles Willeford's novel Miami Blues for the screen, with rising star Alec Baldwin in the lead role as Frederick J. Frenger, Jr, a sociopathic criminal. When he arrives in Miami fresh out of prison, he commits one crime after another until he meets the young prostitute Susie (Jennifer Jason Leigh, Single White Female), with whom he begins to build a pseudo-marriage, complete with home-cooked meals and a white picket fence. As Frederick tries to juggle his home life with his increasing crimes, the persistent police officer Hoke Moseley (Fred Ward, Tremors) threatens to put his freedom at risk. Baldwin is brilliant as the confused criminal struggling through Miami, while Armitage perfectly balances humor and violence in this unique crime comedy that reveals the peculiar influence of producer Jonathan Demme (Something Wild, Married to the Mob).
