HALF MAN! HALF ANT! ALL TERROR!!!, screams the poster for MANT! Behind the work is the mad B-movie king Lawrence Woolsey, who once again hopes to cash in on the audience's fear of atomic warfare. The year is 1962, the place is Key West, and Woolsey is busy arranging unpleasant surprises for the premiere audience (electric shock-equipped cinema seats, invasions of living monsters, etc.) when his cinematic visions become nightmarish reality. The Cuban Missile Crisis has escalated and nuclear-armed ships are gathering off the coast, contributing to the premiere becoming a terrifying experience that the city will not soon forget.

John Goodman is unforgettable as Lawrence Woolsey, modeled after real-life B-movie legend William Castle. Behind the camera is Joe Dante, whose deep love of film has also been celebrated in films such as Gremlins I & II, Piranha, The Howling, and 24 Hour Hunt.
