SHE MADE HER WAY IN A MAN'S WORLD AND CHANGED THE LIVES OF MILLIONS OF CHILDREN
Early 20th century. Courtesan Lili d'Angely lives a glamorous life, but is tormented by a well-hidden secret. Fearing that her reputation will be ruined, she keeps her daughter, who has an intellectual disability, locked away. In Italy, Lily seeks out Maria Montessori, a young doctor who is developing a revolutionary learning method. But Maria also has a child who has been banished to a life in hiding because he was born out of wedlock. When Maria is faced with an ultimatum—her son or her career—the two women join forces to claim their place in a man's world. And to make history!
Maria Montessori is one of the most important women of all time, whose groundbreaking methods continue to influence the lives of millions of children around the world today. The title role in this warm and moving film is played by Jasmine Trinca from Paolo Genovese's The Love Heroes, and Lili d'Angely is played by César-winning Leila Bekhti from Jacques Audiard's A Prophet.
