Her name is Margareta, but she is called "Mackan." She is 14 years old, but looks like she is 16, and has just moved to the small town. A rather dreary place. But thankfully, Kenneth is here. He is 18, dangerously handsome, and has the coolest car in town, and in it, "Mackan" is transported to a better position than what the hot dog stand moped driver can offer. But after her clumsy sexual debut, she realizes that Kenneth is not the man of her dreams. Dangerously handsome, sure... but above all, he's just dangerous!

During the latter part of the 1970s, the 1950s and early 1960s experienced a renaissance in the Western world. In Sweden, The Boppers were spinning on the turntables and we went to the cinema to see Sven Klang's Quintet, Hempas Bar, Bluff Stop and, of course, the biggest blue-and-yellow success of its kind – Birgitta Svensson's MACKAN. Newcomer Maria Andersson was praised for the title role, and two years later she shared the bill with Gösta Ekman in En kärleks sommar (A Summer of Love).
