Les Vampires Blu-Ray
Louis Feuillade was an early film pioneer with an undeniably profound influence, making hundreds of films during a short career that spanned only a few decades. Today, he is best remembered for his groundbreaking serials Fantômas, Les Vampires, Judex and Tih-Minh, four crime epics that have had an immeasurable impact on popular culture around the world.
In the 10 episodes of Feuillade's now iconic Les Vampires, journalist Philippe Guérande (Édouard Mathé) investigates a mysterious criminal gang operating in the Paris underworld—a group known only as the Vampires—and encounters the enigmatic Irma Vep (Musidora).
Feuillade's crime series had an enormous influence on some of the greatest filmmakers of the 20th century, notably Fritz Lang and Alfred Hitchcock. They also played an important role in the development of the criminal masterminds and masked vigilantes that would become increasingly common in pulp magazines, film, TV, radio, and comic books in the coming decades, including Dr. Mabuse, The Shadow, and Diabolik. The Masters of Cinema series is proud to present Les Vampires on Blu-ray from an astonishing 4K restoration.
