Laurent Garnier: Off the Record (Blu-ray)
THE PASSION OF A TRUE PIONEER IN HOUSE AND TECHNO
Filmmaker Gabin Rivoire has followed house and techno pioneer Laurent Garnier on the road with his camera for several years. The result is an intimate portrait of a man who lives for and through music. But the film is so much more than just a tour diary. Thanks to archive material and interviews with people such as Carl Cox, Pedro Winter, Seth Troxler, Jeff Mills, and Derrick May, we get a picture of his entire career and the rise of house and techno music from the 1980s to the present day. For more than thirty years, Laurent Garnier has been getting people dancing and partying at clubs and festivals in Manchester, Paris, Berlin, London, Barcelona, Detroit, New York, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. This is not only Laurent Garnier's story, it is also an account of the rise of rave and EDM culture from the 1980s to the present day and a tribute to the community and joie de vivre that music and dance bring.
