The cruise ship SS Britannic is sailing across the North Atlantic with over a thousand passengers on board. As the ship drifts across the vast ocean, its owner, Nicholas Porter (Holm), receives a call from a man who identifies himself only as "Juggernaut." The ominous voice on the phone informs Porter that explosives have been planted on board the Britannic and that he will sink the ship at dawn unless a hefty ransom is paid. A race against time begins as Captain Alex Brunel (Sharif), Royal Navy officer Anthony Fallon (Harris), and Police Superintendent John McLeod (Hopkins) join forces across land and sea in a desperate attempt to avert certain disaster and ensure the safety of the ship's passengers.

Juggernaut is inspired by a real bomb threat against the Queen Elizabeth 2 on May 17, 1972, and builds on the 1970s' popular taste for exciting crime thrillers and disaster movies and is one of the decade's most entertaining and exciting British films.
