Jean Vigo - A Curzon Collection Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD + Blu-Ray
French director Jean Vigo's complete works are now available for the first time in 4K UHD, on the 120th anniversary of his birth. This collection includes Vigo's entire filmography—L'Atalante, Zéro de conduite, Taris, and À Propos de Nice—presented in a 4K restoration by Gaumont, La Cinematheque Francaise, and Martin Scorsese's The Film Foundation. The set also includes hours of special features, with alternate versions of the films, documentaries, short films, behind-the-scenes reports, and interviews.
Vigo, the son of a notorious anarchist, spent most of his early life on the run or in poor health. Despite these challenges, Vigo created fascinating works of poetic realism, culminating in his only feature film, L'Atalante. Tragically, Vigo died of tuberculosis just weeks after the premiere of L'Atalante in 1934, at the age of 29. However, his legacy has been cemented in film history, not only by archivists and technicians who have preserved and restored his films, but also by filmmakers who see Vigo as a source of inspiration: from the directors of the French New Wave to modern masters such as Michel Gondry and Luca Guadagnino. Experience the magic for yourself today.
"Few artists in film history have achieved such high acclaim with such modest achievements. If one can describe works of genius as modest." – Lindsay Anderson
