Some fairy tales are not for children…
Lucile Hadzihalilovic made a sensational breakthrough ten years ago when her mysterious girls' school drama Innocence won the award for best film at the Stockholm Film Festival. This thematic sequel also depicts the dark fantasy world of childhood, but from the perspective of a ten-year-old boy, and was awarded the prize for best cinematography at the 2015 edition of the festival.Nicolas and his mother live on an island inhabited only by women and young boys. One day, when Nicolas dives into the sea, he thinks he sees a boy at the bottom. His mother dismisses his observation, but the feeling that something is terribly wrong with the island has taken root in Nicolas. What happens to the young boys who are taken to the island's hospital? What will happen when he himself is moved there?
