FILMMAKING AND PARANOIA IN 1970S KOREA

Filmmakers in 1970s Korea had to navigate a minefield of state control and censorship. Formerly popular director Kim has just finished a mediocre thriller. But in a dream, he has an idea that could turn Cobweb into a masterpiece. Kim becomes obsessed with the idea of filming the new ending and regaining his colleagues' respect. When the company boss travels abroad to court Japanese investors, Kim sees his chance. With free access to the studio, he gets started. But very quickly, the filming becomes the most chaotic of Kim's entire career. Visits from the censorship authorities. Actors who don't grasp the brilliance of the new script and would rather scheme against each other than play their roles. Will Cobweb be finished before it all drives Kim insane?
