Young opera singer Robert and his great love, Jewish violinist Rachel, want nothing more than to spend the rest of their lives together. But when Poland is invaded by Germany in the fall of 1939, they are brutally torn apart. Other important roles are played by Stellan Skarsgård, Connie Nielsen (Gladiator), and Stephen Dorff (Blade). The film is produced by Oscar winner Fred Roos (The Godfather II, Apocalypse Now) with a screenplay by David S. Ward (Oscar for The Blowing) and music by Jan A.P. Kaczmarek (Oscar for Finding Neverland).
