In 1880s Wyoming, Lucas Hollister, who recently lost his parents, accidentally kills a rancher and is sentenced to death by hanging. In a twist of fate, his absent grandfather, the notorious outlaw Harland Rust, helps him escape from prison and takes him on the run to Mexico. As they flee through the unforgiving wilderness, the two fugitives must evade the determined American sheriff Wood Helm and a ruthless bounty hunter named Preacher.
