A Man Called Horse (Blu-Ray)

Richard Harris plays the lead role in this carefully documented epic tale, which attempts to give a realistic portrayal of the lives of the American Sioux Indians in the early 1800s. An English lord is captured by a Sioux tribe and given to the chief's aging mother (Dame Judith Anderson) as a servant. Over time, he embraces the tribe's way of life and falls in love with the chief's sister. But before he can be fully accepted as an equal member of the tribe, he must undergo the "sun dance" - a cruel ritual far beyond anything he could have imagined in the civilized world. In order to recreate authentic Native American clothing and make the film authentic, the film's production designer met with American Indians, but learned that their idea of Indian clothing was based on the costumes created in Hollywood...
