High And Low (aka Tengoku To Jigoku) Limited Edition Blu-Ray

Sale price339 kr

High and Low, based on a novel by Ed McBain, is a gripping police thriller starring Toshiro Mifune. Wealthy industrialist Kingo Gondo (Mifune) is faced with a difficult choice when a ruthless kidnapper, who is after his young son, accidentally takes his chauffeur's boy instead—but still demands the ransom, and Gondo faces ruin if he does not pay. High and Low is a complex film noir, an anatomy of the inequalities of modern Japanese society, where the police's intense hunt for the kidnapper is accompanied by a penetrating insight into the kidnapper's state of mind. Kurosawa's virtuoso direction offers no easy answers, and in short, the police and the criminal are equally brutal, yet human.
