BASED ON THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY BY PATRICIA HIGHSMITH

Distraught that his young son Philippe is living the playboy life in Italy, wealthy Herbert Greenleaf tasks Tom Ripley with luring him back to the US. Tom accepts the challenge and travels to the spectacular Amalfi Coast, but quickly develops a taste for the sweet life of wine and beautiful women. Soon, Tom begins to entertain the idea of murdering Philippe and assuming his identity...

HET SOL caused a sensation when it was released in 1960 and marked a major breakthrough for Alain Delon. Five-time Cannes winner and film legend René Clément (To Each His Own, Forbidden Games) directed the film based on Patricia Highsmith's novel The Talented Mr. Ripley, which was also made into a film in 1999 with Matt Damon in Delon's role. Her books have also been adapted for film by greats such as Hitchcock (Strangers on a Train), Wim Wenders (The American Friend), and Todd Haynes (Carol).
