Heavens Above Blu-Ray
The incomparable Peter Sellers portrays John Smallwood, an idealistic clergyman who is accidentally appointed as the parish priest of an upper-class village. Smallwood has a bad habit of always telling the truth, which leads him to make several decisions that shock his wealthy parishioners, who belong to the landed gentry. Inspired by an idea from British satirist Malcolm Muggeridge, the Boulting brothers' HEAVENS ABOVE! was considered a little too blasphemous for general consumption when it was released in 1963. The film, which was far ahead of its time and shows Sellers in his most iconoclastic role, has since gained a loyal and vocal fan base. The fantastic supporting cast includes Eric Sykes, Irene Handl, William Hartnell, and Joan Hickson. EXTRA NEW Sellers takes off in Heavens Above!
