Swedish-French drama in which a French engineer working in Dalarna falls in love with a beautiful blonde, despite rumors that she is one of the Devil's daughters. The film was released as The Blonde Witch in the US... Engineer Laurent comes to Dalarna from Paris to build a road. The local priest tells him about superstitions and witches in the area.

 

One day, Laurent sees the beautiful young Ina in the forest. He follows her, but gets stuck in a bog, where he is rescued by an old woman, Ina's grandmother. The people in the village call them the Devil's daughters. Laurent begins to see Ina, despite the warnings of those around him... The film was awarded a Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.

 

Marina Vlady is best known for Jean-Luc Godard's Two or Three Things I Know About Her and Orson Welles' Falstaff. Maurice Ronet played a number of roles with New Wave directors such as Louis Malle and Claude Chabrol.
