Goebbels älskarinna (DVD)
THE STAR WHO TURNED HER BACK ON HOLLYWOOD TO BECOME JOSEPH GOEBBELS' LOVER
During the 1930s, Lída Baarová (1914-2000) was one of Europe's brightest film stars with excellent prospects of becoming equally famous throughout the world. In 1937, she was offered a lucrative contract by Hollywood giant MGM, but to everyone's surprise, she turned it down. A decision she would later regret for the rest of her life. Instead, Lída chose to become the mistress of the Nazi propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels. It was a love affair considered so inappropriate that Adolf Hitler intervened to separate the lovers.
GOEBBELS' MISTRESS &is the fascinating story of Lída Baarová, whose actions made her a universally despised figure even long after the end of the war. The film legend is played by Tatiana Pauhofova, a big star in the Czech Republic, and Goebbels is portrayed by Karl Markovics, who played the lead role in the Oscar-winning film The Counterfeiters.
