During the barbaric heyday of film censorship in the early 1980s, Video Invest was the most daring and notorious video company. Their films were much worse than anyone else's, which led to police raids on video stores across Sweden. The 26 confiscated VHS titles were destroyed and the company went bankrupt. Now the films are back! In uncut original versions and digitally restored. "If you like this - go and have your brain examined!" wrote the Daily Express about this notorious film in which an elderly couple is discharged from a mental hospital after 18 years. It is claimed that their cannibalistic instincts are now cured, but is that really the case?

Pete Walker began his career as a successful director of soft porn before embarking on a controversial era as a horror filmmaker. Frightmare sparked a firestorm of controversy in England, with both film critics and moralists on the attack. The repulsive couple is played by cult icons Sheila Keith (The Prisoner) and Rupert Davies (The Spy Who Came in from the Cold). And watch out for Andrew Sachs (everyone's Manuel in Fawlty Towers) as a bloody corpse at the beginning of the film.
